In The Playground for the week of February 2 - 8: Chinese New Year at Yaohan Centre, a Family Boogie Concert, the Young Naturalist Club of Stanley Park, a Family Concert with Lowry Olafson and the CIBC Lunarfest!
The Year of the Rabbit is upon us and Yaohan Centre in Richmond is celebrating with a Lion Dance performance on Thursday the 3rd at 12:30PM and a full Stage Show on Saturday the 5th from 1:30-3:30PM. The stage show will feature "singing, dancing, Kung Fu demonstrations, a traditional Lion Dance and more."
The Champlain Heights Community Centre is putting on a Family Boogie Concert with children's musician Bobby Boogaloo. The concert is this Saturday from 1-2PM and will cost you $6.
Once a month, the Young Naturalist Club of Stanley Park meets for a variety of activities, including "hiking, games, wildlife observation, outdoor art, and more!" The February gathering is happening this Saturday from 10AM-12PM and you can call (604)718-6522 or email [email protected] to sign up.
If you're in North Vancouver, the Centennial Theatre is putting on a Family Concert with Lowry Olafson. The interesting thing about Lowry is that he performs with kids and for this show he's invited 200 kids from local schools to perform with him. The show is on Tuesday February 8th at 7:00 and tickets can be purchased online ($10 for adults, $6 for kids under 12).
The big event for this week has to be the opening of the CIBC Lunarfest which runs from February 3-13 and has all kinds of events going on: an opening procession, lantern-making workshops, shadow puppets a photo contest and plenty more.
