Welcome to Vancouver Is Awesome's newest feature, "In the Closet", an intimate look into the wardrobes of stylish Vancouverites. May Globus is one busy bee. Along with being part of the V.I.A. team for a few years now, she also lends her talents to WE, Sweetspot.ca, and social media agency Lovesocial. Working her way up the West Coast from California to Van City, May has a sweet, outgoing demeanor that is reflected in her coverage of all things aesthetically pleasing in the city.May has a talent for finding gems that is evident in the great finds included in her wardrobe. From killer boots to designer deals, her closet is a gem in itself that any girl with an eye for fashion would love to get their hands on.

Tell us a little about yourself...

Where to start, where to start. Well, my name is May Globus and I've been lucky to be part of the V.I.A. family for the past few years. By day, I'm the Community Curator at a social media agency in Gastown called Lovesocial and the Vancouver City Editor for Sweetspot.ca. By night, I'm either moonlighting as the Events Columnist for the Westender (now called the WE) or eating (and, on occasion, drinking) at any one of our city's super awesome food and/or libation establishments. Oh, and I'm completely Instagram-obsessed.

How would you describe your style?

Quite honestly, I find it hard to pinpoint a description for my style because I usually wear whatever fits my mood. I do believe that feeling comfortable in your clothing is key, though—confidence in your style really isn't about what you're wearing, but how you're wearing it.

I will say, though, I'm a huge fan of skirts and long tops with big pockets—not only for sticking my hands in, but also for a place to store my iPod Nano while I'm walking about the city. Fashion plus function!

Best places to shop in Vancouver?

Two of a Few. Oak + Fort. Community. Tru Value Vintage, when it was still on Robson. The Archetype. HP3 on Main for really quirky pieces (sometimes it's a hit, and sometime it's a complete miss). Blue Owl Boutique for cute, eclectic things for the home.

What item from your wardrobe would you save if your house was on fire?

My new Designers Remix chambray dress from Two of a Few. I've only had it for three weeks, but I've probably already worn it eight or nine times.

What's the most sentimental piece you own?

A gold and diamond ring that my mother gave to me. If I leave the house without it, I'll turn back the moment I realize it's not on my finger. In second place is a vintage black, gold and bronze beaded clutch that I procured from my grandmother. She had it hidden away in a storage box and had absolutely no idea what a gem of a bag it is.

Is there an outfit in your wardrobe that's hideous but you just can't part with?

A pair of flat grey boots I bought three or four years ago. It goes with everything, but the heels are worn way down and there are holes at both boot tips. Let me tell you, it's not pretty for my feet when it starts raining. I've had numerous friends beg me to toss 'em, but I haven't been able to so far. I might have to go cold turkey on them this Fall '11.
