I have to be honest, I'm not totally sure which Vancouver beach this is (Kits perhaps?) but for me this one's not about the location as much as the subjects. This is a telling portrait of the hardy nature of the people that call this place home. Forget the wind, laugh in the face of cold, we want to go To the Sea dammit and nowt's going to stop us...and we're going to kick up our heels while we're at it!
I'm really happy I came across this image today because it means that I was also introduced to the rest of Andy's photostream. If you haven't already (or even if you have) had a look at his work I really encourage you to now. There's some true talent and insight there and a good few images that really made me stop and stare. And smile and think and want to carry on looking...

It is our opinion here at VIA that Vancouver holds a unique place in the civilized world in that reaching this state often requires no more effort than simply pulling off to the side of the road, pocketing your keys and taking a few steps into the forest
