The Village on False Creek Welcome to In The Village on False Creek, a unique project inspired by Live@YVR and 365 Days of Dining. I've moved my family into this community with my mission being to showcase the myriad of things that make it awesome by bringing you a weekly scoop!

Almost two weeks ago the new Urban Fare Express opened (to much fanfare!) in the Village. I brought you THIS preview with images I shot right before the grand opening, then got in line for a piece of the delicious cake that they had during their big, free party that they threw and which most of my neighbours attended. The manager, Wes, delivered a speech about how excited he was to be opening the store in his first position as manager of an Urban Fare, and a couple other Overwaitea Food Group heads spoke as well. As I was making my way back for a second helping of cake I couldn't help but notice this guy hanging out by the dairy section, trying his best to go unnoticed.

Yes, it's one of Vancouver's most well-known and successful businessmen, Jimmy Pattison! I briefly explained our "High Fiving Celebrities" series of posts that we do and instead of the sideways look I usually get when I ask people to "just pretend you're giving a high five to the camera" Jimmy told me that he's not looking for any sort of press or recognition, but if it would help me then he'd do it. I told him that it would be incredibly helpful... and so he put his hand up in the air and delivered you, our dear readers, with a high five.

So there you go: You can now say that you've high fived the 3rd wealthiest person in Canada!
