Is Vancouver sushi safe to eat? Is radiation killing sea stars? Is the end near?

As I was walking in to our office this morning a headline caught my eye. The Province newspaper's "IS YOUR SUSHI SAFE?" reflected a question that friends have been asking me over the past few months, as they know I'm a sportfisherman.

As I was walking in to our office this morning a headline caught my eye. The Province newspaper's "IS YOUR SUSHI SAFE?" reflected a question that friends have been asking me over the past few months, as they know I'm a sportfisherman. My answer? First I start off by saying I have no idea, then follow up with the fact that I haven't heard anything alarming from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans or anyone I know who works in fish conservation or science, or any of the online sources that I troll (fishing pun!) for my information on fishing. I've seen the stuff you have on Facebook, and other places online, but I don't have a solid answer on if what happened in Japan is affecting our food, and our safety. This morning Dan Fumano's fantastic, well-researched cover story gets to the bottom of a lot of the questions we all have. HERE it is.
