If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap".

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

If there's one thing we love in Vancouver, it's our local craft brews. New breweries and tasting rooms seem to be popping up on every corner, and I couldn't be happier! Enter Vancouver Craft Beer Week, a celebration of hops and barley that runs May 30-June 7 around Vancouver, this year with a new hip hop vibe. The events are all ticketed, but there are a few cheap ones to tide you over. First is the Pumphouse 35th Birthday Celebration. $10 gets you in the door, and even include a shuttle service to the sky train, and once you're inside you can grab a beer for only $3. On June 5 head over to the Portside for Portside Samples. Throw down another tenner and you get to sample new local beers, while listening to sampled hip hop music.
