If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome. |
It was probably about 6 months ago that I first had The Emerald Supper Club recommended to me by a friend, but I didn't get around to checking it out until recently when I heard about a great deal they offer: half price cocktails on Monday nights. I know, I know, Mondays aren't exactly a party night, but that's what makes this deal so perfect. On a Monday night you probably aren't planning on getting sauced, but an after-work drink might be just what the doctor ordered. And since each cocktail at The Emerald carries at least 2oz, you are getting your money's worth at $5.50-6 a drink.
In the name of research, I sampled a few different varieties, and let me tell you, whether or not you work in the Gastown/Chinatown area, you're going to want to hop over to The Emerald for a little Happy Hour next Monday. Try the Twinkly Eyed if you want something that is far too easy to drink quickly, the Gin Basil Smash for a tasty refresher, or the Boulevardier for a dangerous and rich bourbon-based drink.
