WEEK 239: Olenka & The Autumn Lovers

sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver.
With over 36,000+ artists, boasting more than 150,000+ tracks, the CBC Music/CBC Radio 3 web site is the absolute ultimate authority, and the home, of independent music in Canada.
With that massive library along with tools for members (free to join!), we’re taking advantage of what they’ve set up by bringing you a fresh batch of music every week featuring local groups who have tracks (entire albums, even!) on the R3 site.

Happy Labour Day!

We lured another one folks… Originally from London, Ontario, Olenka & The Autumn Lovers now call Vancouver home, and if you see the number of shows she has coming up, you’ll wonder if she’s even had time to unpack! – On Sept 3rd she performs at The Prophouse with Kat Burns, on the 6th she’s at the Polish Festival in North Van, and on Sept 17th, she’s at the Media Club with SPELLER, and Glue.

We asked the wonderful songstress if she’d make us this week’s playlist and somehow, for a new Vancouverite, she managed to pick a whole bunch of bands that even I don’t know! The playlist “starts off quietly, then builds into some louder stuff and ends with a few quieter moments again” – as Olenka tells it. Click the images below to hear the list and be sure to check out one of her performances this month!!!
