About #SingItFwd

Founded in 2011 by David Vertesi of Hey Ocean! and Ambrosia Humphrey, Vice President of Talent at HootSuite Media Inc., #SingItFwd’s mission is to bring together the best of Vancouver’s independent music community to raise funds and awareness for the importance of youth music education while also providing the children exposure to role models in the industry. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the Saint James Music Academy and it’s programs for children of low income families living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

About The Saint James Music Academy

The Saint James Music Academy is a music education program for children in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside that offers high quality music instruction in piano, guitar, cello, violin and choir at no cost. They currently provide this service to over 200 kids daily.

We believe in social transformation through the power and love of music. Through the inspiration and joy of collaborative music making within the framework of our orchestras and choirs, we give young people in the Downtown Eastside and beyond the opportunity to explore their creative potential, gain self-confidence, get an academic head start, and become role models within their family and community.
