True North: Vancouver’s Official NYE Party

The West Ballrooms of the Vancouver Convention Centre will be transformed the biggest indoor New Year's Eve parties in the city. The event will feature performances from the New Pornographers, Yukon Blonde, Delhi 2 Dublin and more. Partygoers will have the option to either watch the fireworks indoors through the large floor-to-ceiling glass windows or from outdoor Pacific Terrace plaza area.

Family First Night at Mt Seymour

Mt Seymour NYEFamily First Night is the North Shore's longest running family friendly New Year's Eve event. Enjoy snow tubing & tobogganing, live entertainment, magic, fire spinning, musical performances and more! There will also be food vendors, complimentary s’mores and a self-guided, lantern lit snowshoe trail that leads to chocolate fondue. CHOCOLATE FONDUE! All of this followed by an early NYE countdown, party favors and a fireworks finale at 9:00pm.

Concord's New Year's Eve Vancouver Outdoor Celebration

Concord NYE 2016Located along the seawall in front of the Vancouver Convention Center West building, this all ages area provides premium firework views and in-and-out privileges to enjoy the two live music stages (featuring performances by the Sheepdogs, Winter Sleep, Meghan Patrick and more), plus a variety of food trucks and other fun, family friendly activates.

Family Fireworks 2016If you have young children who sleep early (or are just flat out tired), celebrating New Year's Eve at midnight can be challenging. Coinciding with the East Coast's midnight countdown, the Family Fireworks at Concord's New Year's Eve Vancouver allows families with kids to enjoy and embrace the NYE events and atmosphere. Family Fireworks consists of a countdown at 9:00pm from the stages and concludes with a short burst of fireworks from the offshore barge.

All this and more will provide the material for the Vancouver TheatreSports League’s quick-witted improvisers as they find the funny in the important and not so important events of 2016. Working with suggestions from the audience, the improvisers will create on-the-spot mash-up interpretations of various events, all certain to elicit maximum hilarity. If you're headed to a part or just have been meaning to explore what other neighbourhoods have to offer, New Year's Eve is the time to do it. All TransLink services will be free from 5:00pm on December 31 until 5:00am on January 1, 2017. You can use TransLink's online trip planner to figure out your route ahead of time.

The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim Club is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Clubs in the world. Its initial swim was in 1920 when a small number of hardy swimmers took the plunge into English Bay on New Year’s Day. What a way to start 2017!
