Vancouver’s original language is making a comeback

Have you heard of the local non-profit Kwi Awt Stelmexw? They’re an arts & education organization launched in 2015 with the mission “to be a leader in the nation rebuilding efforts of the Squamish Peoples”.

They recently launched a crowdfunding initiative where they’re raising money to put one student through their immersive language program for an entire year, supplying them with tuition and some living expenses. It’s a 2,000 hour program and the ultimate goal is to produce more people who are fluent in the language, to save it from extinction.

Learn more in the video below and at THIS LINK and consider chipping in to help make this a reality for a student.
