With the city recently approving the development of a gigantic new tech hub in Mount Pleasant and the Government of France looking to Vancouver for “young, innovative talent”, there’s never been a better time to consider a career in Digital Media.

On November 15th, the Centre for Digital Media will present host an information session on their Master of Digital Media, providing information on the application process, scholarship opportunities and internships.

The Master of Digital Media is Canada’s first professional graduate program in digital media focusing on the creation of digital media solutions for real world problems. Starting every September, this intensive 16-month program brings together students of various educational backgrounds to create innovative, competent, tech-savvy digital media professionals and entrepreneurs.

Unlike other Masters programs, 65% of MDM coursework is project-based. Guided by top-level faculty and industry mentors, students will work closely with clients and peers on team-based, industry supported digital media projects.

The Centre for Digital Media is located on Great Northern Way Campus, which is jointly owned by the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology and Emily Carr University of Art + Design. In the past 10 years, this unique collaboration between schools has seen almost 400 graduates, 19 start-up companies, and countless personal success stories come from its Digital Media program.

As the world continues to embrace digital and online technologies, Digital Media products can now be found in most industries, including entertainment, tech, eCommerce, non-profits, health, education, marketing, government, environment, spots, art, publishing and teleivison. From app development to virtual reality, Digital Media is offering Vancouver’s workforce more opportunities to pursue careers they are passionate about in industries that are actually thriving.

This is especially true in Vancouver where the tech industry is currently on the fast track to be one of the most exciting and influential in the world. So, is digital media right for you?
