BC Ferries terminals and vessels are now officially smoke-free. Announced earlier this month, the new smoking policy applies to the smoking of tobacco and all other substances, including e-cigarettes and medical marijuana. The launch of this new policy coincides with National Non-Smoking Week, which runs from January 21-28, 2018.

A statement from BC Ferries notes that the policy change extends beyond ferry terminals and also includes the interior of all vehicles on BC Ferries property. There is no information regarding penalties or fines for smoking, but it has been reported that non-smoking aids will be available for purchase on-board.

According to the BC Ferries website, the new smoke-free policy applies equally to BC Ferries’ employees and customers.
