Any way you slice it, pie is a glorious thing. From mile-high meringues to soulful savouries, there’s a pie for every one. Vancouver has quite a few spots that are baking up incredible pies. Order whole pies to please your next get-together crowd, or tuck into a shop to savour a slice. Here are five places for perfect pie in Vancouver.

Know for their always-tempting array of sweet and savoury pies, The Pie Hole is the baked goods baby of Jenell Parsons, who launched the business a few years ago in partnership with her sister, Carla. On their impressive menu are signature pies like Bacon Cheeseburger, Fat Elvis, Earl Grey Cream, Maple French Toast & Bacon, Mac & Cheese, “To Die For” Banana, classic Apple, and more. Check them out in Vancouver or at their new Burnaby location, too.

Lime & Moon began on Bowen Island, and a Yaletown shop followed. They’ve got epic pies here in traditional and wildly wonderful flavours (though it’s hard to beat their fantastic Key Lime pie). This pie shop uses 100% organic ingredients in their pies, and have anything from meat pies to vegan, or dairy-free and gluten-free options. Pies for everyone!

The Pie Shoppe

The Pie Shoppe was started several years ago by the French sisters, taking root at first in a 300-square-foot space in Chinatown they called a “cubbyhole operation.” The duo sliced up some loyal fans and continued success, and were able to move into more roomier digs in East Vancouver. Sadly, they are still mopping up after fire damage, but their goal is to re-open for Easter weekend, so start planning your pie eating now.

Savary Island Pie Company

It is always worth the journey for a slice or two of Savary Island pie. Of course, the most delicious bonus is that you can get this West Vancouver bakeshop’s amazing pies delivered to you. Order ahead from their menu of fruit, meat, or other frozen pies. Look for flavours like their Lemon Buttermilk studded with berries, sweet-tart blueberry, or a savoury Steak, Mushroom, & Guinness pot pie.

This Kitsilano legend’s slogan might be “It’s bigger than pie,” but you’ll go pie-eyed with wonder at all the delicious pies they’ve got here. Aphrodite’s began in 2003 with the Pie Shop, and they’re still baking up some incredible ones. Their flavours include traditional fruit pies like apple and cherry, seasonal peach pie, pecan, pumpkin, and several savoury pies. If you’re pre-ordering whole pies, you can also specify if you would like to sub in a gluten-friendly vegan crust, too. Order two days in advance for whole pies, or head in to try what they’ve got by the slice.
