Vancouver police searching for missing sex offender

Vancouver police are looking for a sex offender who is wanted Canada-wide and failed to return to his Vancouver halfway house on Wednesday night.

Corrections Canada has assessed 33-year-old Richard Darren Rondeau as having a high-risk to re-offend.

Police say Rondeau is currently serving a a five-year-and-10-month sentence after being convicted of a number of offences related to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl he met at a party in Winnipeg in 2011.

Those offences include uttering threats causing death or bodily harm, overcome resistance by choke and assault, and forcible confinement.

He is described as being 5’8″ tall, 165 lbs with blue eyes and short brown hair.

Police are asking anyone that sees Rondeau or has information about where his is to call 9-1-1 immediately.
