Families can enjoy free live music from local performers in Marpole's Oak Park for two nights this summer.

The 3rd annual Music in Oak Park takes place on July 18 and August 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the corner of Oak Street and West 59 Avenue.

There will be games and activities for kids plus a spraypark and playground to keep them entertained.

Hot dogs and snacks are available from a youth concession and proceeds support programs at the Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre (MOCC).

Las Divas will perform on the first night and is known for their Sunday Jam at the PressBox Pub. The band won first place in June, 2017's Battle of the Bands at Donegal's Irish House.

Stay tuned for more information about who will be jamming in the park on August 15.

The event is hosted by MOCC and Marpole-Oakridge Community Association in partnership with the Park Board.

"We try for different types of music but dancing tunes are certainly more popular. If a family wants a nice family-friendly evening, picnicking and going to the spraypark while listening to music than this is an event for you," says MOCC president Mike Burdick.

Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blanket and snacks to enjoy during the performance, which will be held on the grass field between the field house and the playground.
