Make the most out of the final days of summer by checking out the Fair at the PNE, which runs from August 18 to September 3 (closed on August 20 and 27).

Enjoy performances, exhibitions, midway games, rides, special event days while chowing down on lots of decadent treats.

There's plenty of fun to be had but it's not cheap. Regular admission is $18 at the gate and a Fair Ride Pass is $46.75.

Here are the best ways to save on admissions at the 2018 Fair:

Heroes' Opening Weekend

Saturday, August 18 and Sunday August 19, 11 a.m. - Late

Current and retired police, RCMP, ambulance workers and firefighters can get in for free with one guest by showing their valid First Responders service card at the gates.

Toonie Days

Saturday, August 18 and Sunday August 19, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

In celebration of 50 years of music and sports at the Pacific Coliseum. Wear your favourite sports team gear or concert t-shirt, and get in for $2.

FREE Day, brought to you by YVR

Tuesday, August 21 and 28, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Free admission for all guests on Tuesdays during the fair thanks to support from Vancouver International Airport. Re-entrance hand stamps will only be given after 1 p.m. and guests can re-enter the fair before 1 p.m. without needing a hand stamp.

Wild Ride Wednesdays

Wednesdays, August 22 and 29, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Grab two Playland passes for the price of one. The passes are only available onsite on the day of the promotion and the offer does not apply to ride coupons or complimentary passes.

Tim Hortons presents Library Day

Wednesday, August 22, 11 a.m. - Late

Show any BC library card and photo ID to receive $6 gate admission. Don't forget to visit the "library zone" at the PNE for free family-friendly activities.

Seniors Day

Thursday, August 23, 11 a.m. - Late

Take grandma and grandpa to the Fair. Seniors 65 years of age and older get in for free and can ride the ferris wheel (West Coast Wheel) for free all day.

Out at the Fair

Thursday August 30, 11 a.m. to late

Buy a pair of stylish Pride socks at the Vancouver Pride Society office or at the Hastings and Renfrew entrance to the Fair on August 30 to get in for free.

Vancity Member Special

Available on all Fair days, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Vancity members can go to the Fair for $8 or if they enter after 9 p.m. admission is $6. Members can save $16 on the purchase of a Fair Ride Pass if they buy one after 5 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday.

BCAA "Membership is Rewarding" rate

BCAA members can visit bcaa.com for special discounts on gate and ride passes for the Fair.
