At approximately 9:00 AM on Thursday, October 4th, Vancouver Fire and Rescue responded to a call at the 900 block of Thurlow of smoke pouring out of the 4th floor of a building.

Crew were able to locate the source of the blaze in a suite on the fourth floor, but the fire extended through the walls and ceiling voids. As such, Thurlow Street had to be blocked off from Robson to Davie in order for firetrucks to move in.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but luckily a number of pets were evacuated from the building.

Vancouver Fire tweeted about the incident, stating that they "know animals are part of your family," and that they carry animal oxygen kits.

In addition, they shared an adorable image of a little kitty getting clean air from a Vancouver firefighter before being handed off for a round of snuggles and lovin'.
