VIDEO: Local firefighters rescue person from burning house on Halloween night (UPDATED)

Burnaby firefighters were involved in a dramatic life-saving event on Halloween night – with the local first responders rescuing one person from a burning house and then frantically performing CPR.

UPDATE:  The 55-year-old man caught in a Burnaby house fire on Halloween night died in hospital early Thursday morning despite dramatic attempts by local firefighters to save him.

Burnaby firefighters were involved in a dramatic life-saving event on Halloween night – with the local first responders rescuing one person from a burning house and then frantically performing CPR.

A witness told the NOW that around 5:30 p.m. Burnaby firefighters received calls saying they had seen smoke coming out of a house in the 6100-block 16 Avenue, adding that crews arrived to find heavy black smoke showing from a single-storey duplex. Crews searched inside the home and located one victim.

As seen in the video, firefighters started to perform CPR on the victim, who was then taken by ambulance to hospital by paramedics.
