A special two-week St.Patrick's Day event takes place in Lower Lonsdale this month that offers enthusiastic party-goers the chance to chase leprechauns.

Starting on March 15, The Shipyards District is offering the CELTIC CRAWL as well as the Xplorer APP. Within this immersive augmented reality experience players "capture" Shipyards' leprechauns. What's more, they'll get to share photos of themselves with the lucky creatures and play games. If they win the trivia and limerick games they are also eligible to win great prizes.

The game works by pointing your smart phone at the table of participating restaurants or pubs. From here, the leprechaun appears and jumps around. By capturing the leprechaun with a mobile phone, players are entered to win prizes such as a pair of Dayton boots ($850 value), jewelry from Celtic Creations ($600-800 value), a gift basket of assorted items from Lower Lonsdale businesses ($500 value) and a haircut, colour & blow dry service package from Elianes Hair Spa (approx $300 value).

Restaurant guests can also play Celtic Crawl Trivia, a mix of Celtic mythology, limericks and Shipyards history questions. #celticcrawl2019

Players get five entries to the main prize draw on March 31st just for downloading and signing up for the APP, five for each pub in which they catch a leprechaun, 10 for each leprechaun shared to Instagram, and one for each Celtic Crawl trivia question answered correctly.

“We are really excited about our partnership with Xplorer Interactive and this innovative new APP that has been designed to enhance everyone’s experience in The Shipyards District,” says Lower Lonsdale BIA Executive Director Greg Holmes.

“CELTIC CRAWL is the first, and more playful, application of this APP which is unique to us. Future versions of the APP will showcase the distinct history, art and culture of Lower Lonsdale and highlight our transformation into a vibrant waterfront neighbourhood.”
