The Vancouver Art Gallery's beloved art-party, FUSE, returns for another celebration of dancing, DJs, live performances, and breathtaking visual art.

The adult-only evening will focus on, "visual art, music and performance harnessing the power of gesture in various creative forms and expressions."

FUSE: Gestures will also highlight artists who use diverse experiences and encounters to alter perceptions and awareness of body and self.

Hip-hop and soul artist Missy D will dazzle guests in the forecourt with new school hip hop music with jazz.

Munish Sharma will perform in dialogue with the exhibition Moving Still: Performative Photography in India, which confronts themes of gender and sexuality from a South Asian perspective. Kiran Bhumber will also share her own response to Moving Still, outfitted in her self-made, reactive body suit.

Danielle Wensley will use dance that oscillates between static and active forms, and relates to the exhibitions Displacement and Views of the Collection: The Street.

During the evening, all four floors of the Gallery’s exhibitions will be on view:

  • French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850 – 1950
  • Affinities: Canadian Artists and France
  • Mowry Baden
  • Displacement
  • Moving Still: Performative Photography in India (Opening April 19)
  • Views of the Collection: The Street (Opening April 19)
