New Nordic-inspired Finfolk features pizza, oysters, and beer

There’s a fresh place for hoisting a brew and nibbling on eats in “Yeast Van.” Finfolk, a Nordic-inspired beer and bites spot, has recently launched in East Vancouver.

Describing themselves as “Scandinavian inspired cuisine by way of the Northwest,” Finfolk is focused on share-able plates of charcuterie, pizza, and oysters served alongside pours of local craft brews.

Open for lunch through dinner and into the evening Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only, Finfolk is the project of Vancouverite and chef Darren Brown. He’s serving up platters of meats smoked in-house, about a half-dozen rotating pizzas with veggie, meat, or seafood toppings, and fresh oysters.

To drink are beers, wines, and ciders from familiar B.C. spots like Backcountry, Twin Sails, Whistler Brewing, and Lonetree.

Finfolk took over the space briefly occupied by the vegan pizza spot Hustle Pizza Co., who also had a Commercial Drive location before folding the biz at the end of 2018. (The Commercial Drive location is now The Pizza Castle.)
