The summer rain is here and Environment Canada forecasts it will last, well, just for a day or so.
But, nonetheless, Vancouverites have taken to Twitter to express their joy of waking up to cloudy skies, the fact that they will not carry umbrellas until October (on principle) and, of course, their utter disappointment with drivers on this soggy morning.
Drizzle is expected early Thursday morning but the cloudy skies are predicted to clear before midday. It’s happy days for the rest of the week with sunshine and partly cloudy skies until Sunday. Looking ahead to next week, the forecast calls for more sunshine on Monday and Tuesday with highs of 23C.
Until the sunshine returns, here are some tweets about Raincouver today:
We finally have a nice, gloomy, rainy day in Vancouver, finally, the weather I was promised, that I live for

August rain in Vancouver means walking drenched and laughing with strangers over how you won’t carry umbrellas until October, on principle

How Vancouver. HOW do we collectively as a city forget how to drive in the rain after two weeks of sun. It rains here 6 months out of the year. So many accidents

Me: walking to Timmie's it's cloudy
Me coming out of Timmies 20 minutes later: downpour, no jacket, no umbrella, is soaking wet. Ah Vancouver weather. ??????

Today, I am so grateful for this heavy rain in Vancouver. Because, for the first time in 4 summers, I can breathe in fresh air instead of smoke from the forest fires throughout Canada. Thank you rain! Thank you nature! Hopefully we can be kinder to you. #Raincouver ??

To be honest, I’m just trying to justify forgetting my umbrella today. You’d think after nearly 29 years of living in Vancouver I’d have this variable weather thing figured out. https://t.co/ENO2McN8rq
