The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is warning airline passengers they may have been exposed to COVID-19 on multiple recent Vancouver flights.
On Saturday, Oct. 3 Vancouver Is Awesome shared several new Vancouver flights that were added to the list of potential COVID-19 public exposures.
Since then, two more recent flights arriving at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) from Toronto have been added to the list, as well as one to Toronto from Vancouver, and one from Mexico to Vancouver.
The following flights have been added to the BCCDC's list of affected flights:
- Sept. 23: Air Canada 123, Toronto to Vancouver (Rows 15-21)
- Sept. 27: Air Canada 115, Toronto to Vancouver (Rows 3-4, 12-15)
- Sept. 27: AeroMexico 696, Mexico City to Vancouver (affected rows not reported)
- Sept. 30: Air Canada 115, Toronto to Vancouver (Rows 24-28)
Anyone who was on the listed flights is asked to self-monitor for symptoms and seek testing if warranted. Those seated in the rows closest to the affected case - provided row information has been given to officials by the airline - are considered at a higher risk than passengers elsewhere on the plane.
Passengers on affected flights are not informed directly of potential COVID-19 exposure and are instead asked to monitor public notifications regarding flights.
Additionally, passengers travelling from outside of Canada, meanwhile, must arrive prepared with a 14-day self-isolation plan.
