Canada Day at Canada Place

The second largest Canada Day celebration after Ottawa includes a Canada Day parade, festival and fireworks. Aaron Pritchett and Sheena Easton, Barney Bentall, Mo Kenney, and other artists will perform at the Main Stage, the Canadian Forces Zone offers up exhibits celebrating Canada’s military forces and there’s a Youth Zone with an 80s fashion show, photo shoot and live musical performances.
Vancouver Convention Centre’s Annual Open House
West Building, 1055 Canada Place
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Lots of activities are planned this year at the open house, including displays of Olympic medals and torches to relive the days of 2010, a food and beverage service (includes ice cold beer and wine) and an the opportunity to see Canada’s largest living roof.
Celebrations at Granville Island
It’s a go-to spot for Vancouverites on July 1. Canada’s birthday bash will be full of bike decorating, kayaking, yarn-dyeing, maple leaf mural painting, glass blowing and mini Olympic canoeing fun.
RibFest 2016

Includes barbecue masters from across the city who will battle it out at this year’s annual barbecue competition. This year features grillers and pit masters from Peckinpah, Re-Up BBQ, Juniper, and Mamie Taylor’s.
Canada Day TWISTED Yacht Party
2 to 5:30 p.m.
A yacht party featuring alcohol, six electric dance music sets and a sail around the Burrard Inlet and English Bay. Nautical attire encouraged!

Tons of kid-friendly action this year at the Showboat, with opening ceremonies, a puppet theatre, story time with Barry, Darcy the Entertainer and a performance by With One Voice.
Canada Day at Sunset Community Centre

Free event. The Sunset Community Centre serves up cake, face painting, music, dance performance, a train ride, photo booth and other classic Canada Day festivities.
BURNABY
Canada Day at Edmonds Plaza and Park
11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Free family activities for our nation’s day include face painting, music, arts and crafts, always-popular bingo, cake and multi-cultural entertainment.
Canada Day at Burnaby Village
11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Celebrate Canada’s 149th, in 1920s style at Burnaby Village Museum. This free, all-day event includes multi-cultural, family-friendly musical performances, a parade, a barbershop quartet and Japanese drumming.
Canada Day at Swangard Stadium

What better way to spend Canada Day than at a free concert and firework display? Includes performances by headliners, The Trews, Madeline Merlo and Vancouver reggae band, Purple Soul.
NORTH SHORE
Parade at Royal Canadian Legion

With the Lion Club’s pancake breakfast in the morning and the Royal Canadian Legion’s post-parade barbecue, there’s no reason to leave this all-day event and miss any of the fun at the Canada Day parade.
Fest at Waterfront Park
12 to 4 p.m.
This family-oriented fest offers a variety of entertainment, games and activities for all ages, featuring some of Vancouver’s best food trucks and a craft market.
Celebrations at Lynn Valley Village
12 to 4 p.m.
Four hours of jam-packed fun at Lynn Valley Village with entertainment provided by Steele Productions, crafts, a scavenger hunt, bouncy castle, a farmers market and an outdoor barbecue hosted by Browns.
Picnic and Fireworks at John Lawson Park
4:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Pack a picnic or try new foods from some food vendors while enjoying performances taking the stage in the evening and a fireworks show at night.
RICHMOND
Steveston Salmon Fest
6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The annual fest celebrating Canada’s birthday starts early in the morning with a pancake breakfast, a parade through Steveston Village featuring more than 100 entries and several shows and fairs, including the Children’s Festival, Japanese Cultural Show and Martial Arts Demonstrations. Fill up on the iconic salmon barbecue, which serves up more than 1,200 pounds of wild salmon filets.
SURREY
Canada Day by the Bay
10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Celebrate Canada’s birthday on the shores of Semiahmoo Bay with a kids’ zone, fireworks, and live musical performances, including headliners, The Boom Booms, Richard Tichelman, Halifax Wharf Rats, Hawking, Her Brothers and six others.
SQUAMISH
Canada Day at Squamish
10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
This year’s celebrations include festivities for the whole family: a Canada Day parade in the morning, entertainment, food, family activities and a beer garden all day, and fireworks at night.
LANGLEY
Canada Day at Fort Langley
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Celebrations include arts and heritage-themed fun, entertainment, free admission to the Fort Langley National Historical Site and at three museums.
DELTA
Canada Day at Kirkland House
12 to 4 p.m.
With free, old-fashioned family fun at Kirkland House, children and adults can enjoy the antique tractors and cars, spinners and weavers, live music, food, games and rides.
Celebrations at Diefenbaker Park
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Enjoy being outdoors this Canada Day with a picnic, pier, pond, walking trails and a water park. The Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions have scheduled an official cake cutting, which shouldn’t be missed.
Annual celebration at Chalmers Park
5:30 to 10:45 p.m.
Tons of action happening at Chalmers Park on our nation’s 149th, with children’s crafts and games, barbecue, live performances by Purple Pirate and the March Here Band, and fireworks.
