City of Vancouver appoints new housing chief

The City of Vancouver has followed up on a recommendation from the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability to appoint a chief housing officer.

The City of Vancouver has followed up on a recommendation from the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability to appoint a chief housing officer. Mukhtar Latif, an international property consultant from the UK, is tasked with working with developers, not-for-profits and provincial and federal agencies to find more affordable housing options in the city. Latif has worked previously with the UK’s National Housing Federation and chaired research in developing diversity in the housing procurement process. He is expected to begin the new job in early October.
