Fall cleanup time runs between Oct. 8 and 16. During this period, household garbage (excluding mattresses) can be disposed for free at the Vancouver Landfill, 5400 72nd St., Delta from 7: 30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Identification is required to confirm Vancouver residency. Garbage can be transported to the landfill in passenger cars, trailers, small pick-ups and vans. Vehicles larger than three quarter-tonnes will only be allowed up to 500 kg of garbage for free. Commercial or hazardous waste is not be accepted. The landfill has a recycling depot for metals, tires, etc.
