The final stop on the Five Hole for Food road trip set a new record for donations as Vancouverites contributed the equivalent of 9,390 pounds of food at its event last Saturday. Richard Loat, Jonathan Buyco and Vic Lo finished a 17day campaign by playing ball hockey on Granville Street. The public were encouraged to bring their hockey sticks and a donation for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society. Overall, the non-profit organization collected 42,711 pounds of food across Canada. "Our goal this year was to collect 20,000 pounds of food to feed hungry Canadians and we ended up doubling that amount," said Lo, a Vancouver resident. Lo and his two friends started their trip June 23 in Newfoundland and ended it 13 cities and 10,000 kilometres later in B.C. on July 9. For more information, visit fiveholeforfood.com.
