I’ve had him for close to three years. For sure it’s been a struggle. He’s taught me a lot. Baloo’s taught me about unconditional love. There are three things we need, love, food and shelter. Because Baloo is a rescue and because he was very scared of a lot of things, I pushed my dog to become more sociable when he really didn’t want to, so how that [translates] onto my life was that rather than always, always forcing myself to do certain things I might not enjoy, or even encouraging other people to come out of their shell, maybe I should respect the boundary, respect that my dog might not want to meet every single dog out there or maybe doesn’t want to meet every single person that comes to him. It’s OK to be reserved and not overextend yourself.
