The deadline to apply for a Vancouver Sport Hosting Grant is Oct. 31. Funding of $200,000 is available from the city through grants dedicated to helping local groups host sports events. Changes to the grant program this year mean funding eligibility for new events will be extended for two years, the restrictions regarding ineligibility for Hosting B.C. Grant recipients has been removed, and maximum funding will be increased to 30 per cent of the total event operating cost. Successful events will offer social and cultural benefits, show financial need, be sustainable and environmentally friendly and take place within the City of Vancouver.
