The National Hockey League, along with the City of Vancouver, is calling all hockey fans to shoot and score! In celebration of the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic game between our very own Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators, the city is holding a free outdoor festival this Sunday. Whether you like to play, watch or know absolutely nothing about hockey, everyone is welcome to take part in the events and be a part of the team on March 2 from 9am to 1pm when the parking lot outside the Plaza of Nations is transformed into the 2014 Canadian Tire NHL Spectator Plaza. Former Canucks Kirk Mclean and Cliff Ronning will also be making an appearance.

We love this! On March 1, the HR MacMillan Space Centre (1100 Chestnut) is featuring the galaxys greatest hits or at least Hollywoods version of what life in outer space would sound like. Theyll blend recorded music from space movies with full-dome images of Vancouver and the world starting at 7:30pm. So while you relive the Cold War era anxiety of The Day the Earth Stood Still and drift away to the beautiful and serene Blue Danube waltz from 2001: A Space Odyssey, youll be transported to a galaxy far, far away. Its our homage to the science fiction movie experience, says Lisa McIntosh, director of learning. There will be a live talk session after the half-hour show for guests to continue their exploration of the universe. Tickets are $8 to $13 and are available at SpaceCentre.ca.
