Hosting 70 local artists, the second incarnation of the Lab Art Show will showcase a variety of original artwork, including an installation by Owen Wong, photographs by Jens Kristian Balle, paintings by Thibault Sendra (pictured) and body art by Natacha Trottier.
Short films from both the Vancouver Latino American Film Festival and internationally awarded Vancouver Film School students will be presented, as well as the spring/summer collection of designer Dominique Hanke; all in concert with music by saxophonist Jen Charters with DJ Daniyah Angel, and soul/funk group, The Ponderosas.
Proceeds from the show will be donated to Homes Huichol a charitable institution in Jalisco, Mexico, that provides accommodation to ailing Aboriginal Peoples. In addition to supporting this charity, Lab Art Show 2 will be showcasing artwork by Mexican Aboriginals.
We are not only celebrating art, but featuring local talented artists who may otherwise have a limited outlet to showcase their work, says show creator Gloria Bernal.
The show takes place over two days, April 11-12, at the Heritage Hall at 6102 Main. Tickets are $10/$15.
