Over the next few weeks, you can get a sense of why Mount Pleasant is becoming one of the citys favourite neighbourhoods for everyone from hipsters to young parents to senior citizens. On June 1 theres a family carnival at the Mount Pleasant Elementary School from 11am to 3pm. Activities include pony rides, a bouncy castle, bike station and obstacle course. You can also learn about the St. George Rainway Project. On June 8 from 3 to 6pm, join the Broadway East Art Walk. Drop by Annas Cake House (606 E. Broadway), Harkness & Co. Butchers (666 E. Broadway) and Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (800 E. Broadway) to view the temporary art installations. That night, Ana Mateescus film of local residents stories will be screened at Neighbourhood House at 6:15. Then, on June 15, its Vancouver Draw Down at three locations: Comic Jam at Mount Pleasant Community Centre, 10:30am to 12:30pm; Exploring Water and Creating a School of Fish at Neighbourhood House, 12 to 4pm; and Imagining Architecture at Creekside Community Centre, 1 to 4pm.
