Love, corruption, murder and betrayal Tosca, Puccinis last great 19th century opera, has it all. Set in a time of political and religious upheaval, Puccinis melodrama paints three unforgettable portraits: the fiery, pure-hearted Tosca; the passionate political idealist Mario; and the deeply depraved Scarpia. More than 50 voices will complement the two Toscas, Canadian-born soprano Michele Capalbo and the American Tamara Mancinising, in alternating performances of the role. All patrons who attend the Oct. 31 performance in costume will receive $10 in Opera Bucks, which may be used toward the purchase of a single ticket for any remaining 2013-2014 Vancouver Opera performance. Oct. 26 to Nov. 3 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Tickets $65-$175 VancouverOpera.ca
