Various studies have determined that February is the most depressing month of the year. (To be fair, January nips aggressively at its heels.) So what better way to combat its myriad miseries than laughing yourself hoarse at the dozens of comedians descending upon the city for the second annual JFL NorthWest festival?
The 10-day event (Feb.16-25) boasts some of the best stand-up talent from across the city, North America and beyond, as well as improv, short films and more.
Headliners this year include Emmy Award winner and bestselling author Sarah Silverman, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, Last Comic Standing winner Iliza, and Cincinnati-via-Los Angeles up-and-comer Tom Segura. (Stream his Netflix special, Mostly Stories, immediately!)
As well, co-presenter SiriusXM hosts its own Top Comic Showcase, featuring the country's best new stand-ups; the Just for Laughs Showcase, which finds Vancouver's own aspiring comedy stars vying for the praise of influential judges; and The Alternative Show, which promises "two nights of alternative comedy anarchy. Off-the-wall and totally unpredictable, audiences won't know what to expect."
Tickets go on sale Friday (Dec. 2) at 10am, at JFLNorthWest.com. Visit the website now to view the full lineup.
