The Golden Mile Bench, is not, despite sounding like a gold-plated, Trumpian seat of the Gods, an actual bench. Nay, it is much, much better. In actuality, the Golden Mile Bench has the distinction of being the first sub-appelation of BC's burgeoning wine industry, and the fertile growing region – located in the sunny South Okanagan – for nine incredible BC wineries.
And now, on April 13, you can learn all about it with 'The Origins of Wine: The Golden Mile Bench' – an evening of wine tastings and lively conversation, hosted by TELUS World of Science and moderated by veteran wine writer Kurtis Kolt alongside a panel of BC principal wine makers.
The event will feature a collection of nine Golden Mile Bench wineries, and wine enthusiasts will learn: what is a sub-appellation? Why is it important to wine making? What makes the Golden Mile Bench a sub-appellation? Guests will also enjoy mouthwatering food pairings by Backyard Farm and Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek.
