Admission

Portia (Tina Fey) is an uptight admissions officer for Princeton who finds herself charmed by the founder of an alternative school (Paul Rudd) and in a potential conflict-of-interest with one of his gifted students (Nat Wolff). The first-time teaming of Fey and Rudd features a different spin on the traditional romantic comedy, complete with adoption and mothering issues. Co-starring Lily Tomlin. One somewhat dry making-of extra on the Blu-ray disc.

The Girl

Ashley (Abbie Cornish) has exhausted every legal means to get her son Georgie back from social services; she turns to human smuggling through Mexico to make some quick cash. There aint no border for General Motors or Wal-Mart, says her truck-driving daddy by way of introduction. Ashley becomes a coyote but isnt prepared for what happens when a little girl is unexpectedly left in her care.

Damages, The Final Season

Glenn Close reprises her award-winning role as cutthroat litigator Patty Hewes in this fifth and final season of Damages. Over 10 episodes, Patty goes toe-to-pedicured-toe with her old protégé Ellen (Rose Byrne) as they decide the fate of Channing McLaren (Ryan Phillippe), a cyber-criminal with charm to spare. Twists, tension and high-calibre acting are hallmarks of the series, which co-starred Jena Elfman and Michael Gaston. Outtakes and deleted scenes on the standard disc.

The Gatekeepers

Six members of Israels secret service, the Shin Bet, talk about the organizations military and ideological struggles, successes and failures since the Six Day War in 1967. How the nature of terrorism changed after the peace summit under Bill Clinton fell apart, and how it changed again following the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin in 1995, and how Shin Bet has felt empowered and abandoned by the Israeli government over the years. Fascinating insight into the region, the politics and the people that comprise the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Trailer, commentary and a Q&A with director Dror Moreh are included on the standard disc.

Saige Paints the Sky

Kids bored already? Saige Paints the Sky is wholesome kid-DVD fare, a girl-power film with nary a boyfriend-issue in sight. When nine-year-old Saige (Sidney Fullmer) arrives at her new school and discovers that funding for the art program has been cut, she turns to her new friends and recruits her grandmother (Jane Seymour) to save the program. Part of the American Girl film series.
