Still masochistically reading reviews because you couldn't see it all during the Fringe Festival? You’ll have a second chance during the Public Market Pick of the Fringe, running September 17-21 at Performance Works.
Chosen based on box office popularity and donut bribes (just kidding, they didn’t get any donuts), these Pick shows were the most buzzed about in Fringe lineups and reached sell-out proportions during the festival.
And without further adieu, the Pick of the Fringe winners are:
Peter n’ Chris and the Kinda OK Corral
2013 Canadian Comedy Award Winners and CBC Canada Writes Fringe “Must See,” Peter n’ Chris have been pleasing Fringe audiences for years and the Kinda OK Corral is no exception.

Mind of a Snail expands on their brilliant overhead projector shadow puppetry repertoire to include mask and original music in this tale told from a crow’s point of view.

Dirty Old Woman
Star studded Dirty Old Woman explores a May-December romance between Nina, an older woman (Susinn McFarlen) and a much younger man (Robert Salvador), with Emmelia Gordon and Alison Kelly as Nina’s shocked daughter and best friend, respectively.

No Tweed Too Tight: Another Grant Canyon Mystery
Fringe favourite, Ryan Gladstone, is very, very drunk insurance investigator, Grant Canyon, who still manages to get his man – and a few femme fatales as well.

A shy comic book geek finds herself through one of the fastest growing, female dominated sports out there: Roller derby – which is under consideration for the 2020 Olympic Games.

The Fringe is also hosting the Pick Plus! Tickets are $25 each or see three or more shows and get 30 per cent off.
Peter n’ Chris and The Mystery of the Murder Motel, winner of the 2011 Pick of the Fringe, and the basis for the pair’s newest project, the web series, Hardly Men, is back. Slow motion running, sleuthing, and the usual hijinks from Fringe heartthrobs Peter n’ Chris will ensue! Wednesday, September 17 at 9pm.
Basic Training is a redemptive and theatrical story of comedy, breakdance, and theatre that introduces audiences to 23 unforgettable characters, all delivered through Kahlil Ashanti’s rapid fire delivery. Friday, September 19 at 7pm.
6 Guitars won the 2013 Pick of the Fringe. Chase Padgett inhabits six music lovers – and their guitars – each with a different musical style. Saturday, September 20 at 7pm.
God is a Scottish Drag Queen II: The Second Coming has Mike Delamont returning as God, dressed in a floral power suit, ready to skewer everything from circumcision to the Mormons. Sunday, September 21 at 7pm.
All Pick Plus shows will be presented at Performance Works, located at 1412 Cartwright on Granville Island. Tickets are $25 each or choose the Pick Plus Package and see three shows for only $50. Tickets are available at vancouverfringe.com.
