Welcome to Poetic Licence – a new weekly poetry forum, hosted by us, featuring words by local poets. This week? Two pieces by Surrey poet David Ly.
For the “no rice, no spice kinda guy”
The
poetry
of
his
pretty
jawline
broke
when
he
opened
his
mouth.
Notes on being messaged
i love azns
Reads bitter on the tongue
and burns going down
looking to go down?
The words don’t feel
as good as he meant them to
you look good
I want words that
swallow like licorice
like to be licked?
To greet me kindly
with a hello in the beginning
hello?
Silence
is not the best response
whatever. bye
But it’s always there
sticky in my throat
