What do an eccentric old-timey photographer, a Montreal cop, a serial killer, a hippie mama living in a cute little shack, and a time-pressed blues singer have in common?
They’re all characters from recent television shows and films, and the local talents who brought them to cinematic life have all been nominated for 2015 UBCP/ACTRA Awards.
The awards are the brainchild of the Union of British Columbia Performers, an autonomous branch of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, the national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.
Honouring actors, actresses, stunt performers, and voice artists, the UBCP/ACTRA Awards celebrate work done in the past year, and is the only peer-adjudicated awards show in the province. Five awards will be handed out in a red carpet gala at the Vancouver Playhouse on Nov. 7.
