Movie fans with short attention spans rejoice! The Vancouver Short Film Festival returns for its fifth annual installment this month, featuring 17 short films and four web series.
This year's event features a total of six different screenings from Nov. 14 to 16, all at the Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour).
“This is our biggest year yet,” says Festival Director Kelly St-Laurent. “We have an abundance of incredibly talented filmmakers in B.C. and it is an honour to celebrate their achievements. I cannot wait for everyone else to see these films.”
Last year, VSFF awarded more than $17,000 in prizes awarded to local filmmakers.
The festival kicks of Friday, Nov. 14, with Small Screen Sensation: BC Web Series at 7pm (featuring viral Convos with my 2 year old, among others), and Visually Effected, at 8:30pm.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, VSFF presents the documentary series Written in Earth: Our Stories at 7pm and a collection of stories focussing on life, death, and that's in between with Transience: A Celebration of Life, at 8:30pm
Emcees Fiona Forbes and David Lewis present a double screening of Retrospectives and New Perspectives at 6pm on Sunday, Nov. 16, ahead of the VSFF award at 8:15pm.
Tickets and passes are $11-55 online at VSFF.com.
