Feb. 21, 2015

Get laughing: Fresh-faced funnyman John Mulaney, star of the criminally underrated sitcom Mulaney and a former SNL writer, wraps up the NorthWest Comedy Fest with a headlining set at the Centre. Local standup Ivan Decker opens the show.

Get in on the debate: The Vogue hosts a live taping of an episode of hit CBC series The Debaters, where comedians face off over a variety of topics with the biggest laughs deciding the winner. This one’s a matinee performance, with host Steve Patterson doing a non-debatable show on his own later the same day at the Comedy Mix.

Get shushed: Super Happy Hacker House (SHHH) are happy to have moved into new digs at 1715 Cook St. and are hosting a housewarming party  for folks to share tech-related ideas and adult beverages.

Get a jolt of adrenaline:  The Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival wraps up tonight at Centennial Theatre with an awards ceremony for the top films and a presentation by renowned climber Sonnie Trotter about his latest epic challenge: fatherhood. The evening also features screenings of Alasair Lee’s film Stone Free about free climber Julian Lines and Sufferfest 2: Desert Alpine, featuring a month in the lives of pals Cedar Wright and Alex Honnold spent riding their bikes and climbing desert towers in the American Southwest.

Get cold: Long Beach-based indie rockers Cold War Kids hit the Commodore Ballroom in support of their new album Hold My Home.
