The Courier is giving away two of the hottest cookbooks of the season, including Goodness: Recipes & Stories, which celebrates 37 good food fighters from across Canada — chefs, entrepreneurs, growers and food activists who believe that good, healthy food should be accessible to all. Brothers Peter and Chris Neal, founders of Neal Brothers Food, compiled the cookbook to tell those stories, each of which underlines the simple truth – food has the power to enrich lives and build strong communities. To that end, 50 per cent of the profits from the sale of Goodness will be donated to Community Food Centres Canada to help support their good work across Canada. This copy of Goodness was generously donated by SPUD, an online grocery store and delivery service dedicated to all things sustainable, local and organic.

The second title on the Courier's must-have cookbook list is The Butcher, the Baker, the Wine and Cheese Maker by the Sea compiled and written by food and wine columnist Jennifer Schell. The book is a celebration of B.C.'s coastal cuisine with recipes and fork-lore from the region’s farmers, artisans, fishers, foragers and chefs. The Butcher, the Baker, the Wine and Cheese Maker by the Sea is a tribute to the remarkable innovators and culinary leaders who make up Canada’s west coast food culture. Discover some of the most diverse and delicious food available — from the fabulous food-truck fare of Tofino to the elegant dishes of downtown Vancouver’s five-star restaurants, along the Sea to Sky Highway to the famous après-ski pub grub of Whistler and the smorgasbord of the lush farming valley of Pemberton. In addition to delicious recipes, this collection features the stories of more than 150 of the area’s experts. The book follows on the success of the award-winning The Butcher, the Baker, the Wine and Cheese Maker: An Okanagan Cookbook.
