The suspect in last month’s double stabbing incident outside North Delta’s Immaculate Conception elementary school is now facing additional charges.
Already facing two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of assault with a weapon stemming from the incident, in which an off-duty Delta police officer and a woman were injured, police announced Manoj George, 49, is also facing charges of:
- Attempt to commit murder
- Sex assault with weapon
- Extortion
- Unlawful confinement
- Choking to overcome resistance
- Uttering threats
The charges are in relation to the woman who was injured in the incident, Delta police noted in a press release, which added there are no new additional victims in relation to the investigation.
“These are serious charges, regarding circumstances that only came to light once the police investigation was underway,” said Insp. Guy Leeson of the DPD Investigation Bureau in the press release.
Police noted George is still in custody pending his next court appearance, set for March 13.
The woman involved in the incident is still in hospital, police noted. The off-duty officer, A/Sgt. John Jasmins, has already been released from hospital.
