There are a few cardinal rules I live by when it comes to fashion such as staying open to something new, balance, comfort and finding a great deal. Just because you’re craving designer items doesn’t mean you have to spend like you’re buying one.  Consignment stores around Vancouver is a great way to shop on a bargain. While some people believe that shopping at sales or consignment stores means finding items that are out of date or not “on trend”, what’s trendy isn’t the necessarily the holy grail. Trends often give us new inspiration but what’s trendy for you is what looks great on you.

Spring has officially arisen and it’s the optimal time to take advantage of sales that are happening all over the city. Because we’re all about keeping you in the know, Plenty is hosting a warehouse sale that’s definitely worth checking out for great deals at the Vancouver Convention Centre from April 18th-21st.  We also took this opportunity to ask Plenty’s communication and marketing manager Jenna Tuazon some questions about shopping smart and how to take full advantage of sales.

Just because you can never be too prepared for sale shopping and stocking up on techniques to make sure you get the most out of your hard earned cash, here are Plenty’s top 10 tips for sale shopping.

1. Get there early for the best selection. Plenty will be re-stocking the sale with new items daily, but it's best to get there first so you don't miss out on the most coveted pieces.

2. Grab a coffee, tea or water on the way to the sale in the event of long line ups to get in.

3. Leave your handbag at home - Opt for coat or pants with pockets or small purse to carry your phone, credit/debit cards and cash so you don't have to waste valuable shopping time going through bag check.

4. Strategize - Plan ahead and focus on those pieces you're really looking to add to your wardrobe. Once inside the sale, pick two zones that best reflect the pieces you're looking for and go for it! (i.e.: jackets and coats)

5. Work with a team - Bring a friend or two, divide and conquer! Split up the sales area and each take a section to rummage, noting the wish list items for your friends are looking for.

6. Dress appropriately  - wear clothes and shoes that are easy to slip on and off and avoid wearing jewelry as it can become cumbersome when trying on clothes.

7. Look for private label items - Plenty has 6 of their own in-house brands (Propaganda, PGD, Monk and Lou, Ribbon, Ribbon Luxe, Bug Blue) meaning the only place to buy these is directly from Plenty. You'll get a bargain of a lifetime on these unique boutique items.

8. Guys are welcome - The sale has an abundance of menswear, footwear and accessories available for at huge discounts. So ladies, bring your fellas!

9. Know your size - It may sound obvious, but knowing your size in certain brands will help avoid having to try on multiple sizes of one item - and get you to the checkout line faster!

10. Check out line edit - the check out lines can be long. Utilize this time to edit your potential purchases.
