Re: "Mass media, politicians part of bullying problem," April 27.
Geoff Olson's column regarding the bullying he was subjected to by a Grade 8 math teacher brought back memories. My Grade 9 math teacher liked to amuse himself and the class by putting me in front of the black board to work on an algebra problem. He and the class would laugh hysterically while I attempted to solve the problem. I was able to laugh along, but it left me with an aversion to not only math but school and teachers in general.
My sister who attended the same school had a different math teacher. She was an "A" student in math and was the only girl in the Grade 12 math class. That teacher teased her saying, "Why would a girl want to take math?"
I graduated from Vancouver Technical School in 1962.
