Re: "Future uncertain for almost 2,000 Canada Post workers at downtown Vancouver Plant," June 15.
Canada Post is proud of the investments being made in the Vancouver area. Our new plant in Richmond is on schedule, but the exact number of employees that will work at the new plant or other locations is yet to be finalized. When talking to the reporter, we provided an erroneous number of employees that may move to the new plant. This information was incorrect and I apologize for any confusion it may have caused. Our postal workers have job security.
As we continue to modernize our operations across the country-including Winnipeg, our safety record continues to improve. That means fewer employee injuries, not more.
The strategic investments Canada Post is making in the Vancouver area will enable the corporation to help grow e-commerce in Canada, better serve our customers and help provide a secure future for Canada's postal system and our workers.
