Re: "Strathcona residents want more transparency in viaduct removal plan," March 27.
Our February 26 letter to mayor and council actually included co-signators Ray-Cam Co-op and Strathcona BIA, as well as the False Creek Resident's Association, Strathcona School PAC and the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood Council. All five community groups have joined in our demands for a viaducts removal plan that includes traffic calming on Prior Street and an Eastern Core Strategy.
The assertion that the SRA wish to widen Malkin Avenue and sacrifice Cottonwood Gardens couldn't be further from the truth. The Cottonwood Gardens are a valuable green space asset for our community and the city. We see no need to destroy the gardens. Any direction to widen Malkin lies solely with the city's planning department.
