Re: "Fate of viaducts to be decided this summer," vancourier.com, May 18.
The headline should have read as "will crush viaduct." The quote from Coun. Geoff Meggs is disingenuous: "We'll find out... we're very close to an historic decision..." says it all, in pseudo-democratic fashion. The decision to eradicate the viaducts was formed years ago-and mentioned, in a quiet way, back then. It's part of Vision Vancouver's Bikes, Yes! Cars, No! ideology. The cost of this blinkered mindset-to taxpayers and the 80,000 or so drivers who cross the viaducts daily-is of no import to Robertson et al.
