To the editor:
Re: "Flaherty taps deep well of stupid," May 18.
Matthew Claxton clearly does not support the finance minister, but this does not mean he should take his words completely out of context. All Jim Flaherty was trying to say is that all jobs are to be valued, and that it is better to have a job than be unemployed. This sounds totally reasonable to me.
However, Claxton's attempt to somehow link this to a deadly, horrific incident at Langley's A-1 mushroom farm was a stretch to say the least. If anyone should be fired, it should be any journalist who tries to spin an argument out of nothing.
